This guide helps you prepare for an AI-powered technical interview on XeCubes. Understanding the format and following these tips will help you perform at your best.
What Is an AI Interview?
An AI interview is an autonomous voice/video conversation with an AI interviewer. It's designed to simulate a real technical interview:
- The AI asks questions and adapts based on your answers — giving harder follow-ups when you're doing well, and offering hints when you're struggling.
- You speak naturally as you would with a human interviewer.
- If there's a coding component, you'll use a built-in code editor.
- The entire session is recorded, transcribed, and scored.
Before the Interview

Pre-Check Checklist
- Test your microphone and camera before the interview.

- If coding is involved, review data structures and algorithms.
During the Interview
Tips for Success
- Speak clearly and at a natural pace — the AI processes your speech in real-time. Don't rush.
- Think out loud — explain your reasoning as you work through problems. The AI evaluates your thought process, not just final answers.
- Ask clarifying questions — the AI can provide additional context about problem constraints.
- It's OK to say "I don't know" — honesty is valued over bluffing. The AI will move to a different topic.
- Use the code editor — if prompted to code, write clean, readable code. Test with edge cases.
- Don't panic about pauses — the AI processes your response before asking the next question. Brief pauses are normal.
What NOT to Do

- ❌ Don't have someone else in the room helping you.
- ❌ Don't switch tabs excessively — this is monitored.
- ❌ Don't copy-paste large blocks of code from external sources.

Troubleshooting
